Worcester, MA – Allegro MicroSystems, LLC announces two new N-channel power MOSFET driver ICs that can control MOSFETs connected in a half-bridge configuration. Allegro's A4926 and A4927 are designed for automotive applications with high power inductive loads for DC pumps (brake, oil, water and fuel), air conditioning systems (HVAC), solenoids and actuators. . These devices are particularly well-suited for automotive systems that must meet ASIL requirements. Like the rest of the Allegro A2SILTM family, the A4926 and A4927 integrate enough features to complement the system design and help users achieve the required ASIL rating requirements.
The A4926 and A4927 integrate a unique charge pump regulator that provides a complete gate drive for most applications, even at battery voltages as low as 5.5V. They come with a bootstrap capacitor that can be selected for management and can be used to provide a higher supply voltage than the battery required for an N-channel MOSFET. The half bridge can be controlled by an independent logic level input or an SPI compatible serial interface. The external power MOSFET is protected by a programmable dead band to avoid shoot-through.
The integrated diagnostics of the A4926 and A4927 provide indications of various internal faults, system faults, and power bridge faults, and can be configured to protect the power MOSFET under most short-circuit conditions. In addition to providing full access to bridge control, the serial interface can be used to change programmable settings such as dead time, VDS threshold, gate drive current, and fault blank TIme, which can be read via the serial interface.
