As an absolute hot spot in the market today, ADAS will inevitably bring huge market demand to millimeter wave sensors. According to the data, in 2020, the global shipment of vehicle-mounted millimeter-wave radar is expected to reach 72 million, and the domestic market will exceed 20 billion yuan. In the face of such a huge "cake", I think everyone will be like me, I want to know how TI AWR millimeter wave sensor supports ADAS application?
TI AWR Series Millimeter Wave Sensors: Highly accurate automotive radar sensors for analyzing dynamic operating conditions. They support automotive applications ranging from proximity sensing, ultra-short range and short range radar to front long range radar.

For the automotive market, TI is focusing on the three sensors AWR1243, AWR1443 and AWR1642 operating in the 76-81GHz band.
The AWR1243 is a radar front-end sensor with 3 transmitters and 4 receiver antennas for medium to long range radar applications such as ACC and Automatic Emergency Brake (AEB). It has a built-in calibration and monitoring engine that can be coupled by an external processor.
The AWR1443 device includes 3 transmitters and 4 receiver antennas and integrates an MCU with 0.5MB of on-chip memory for autonomous operation of the front end for proximity sensing, such as parking assistance, occupant detection, door/ Trunk opening device and simple gesture movement.
The AWR1642 implements RF+MCU+DSP full integration. Compared with the traditional 24GHz solution, its size is reduced by 33%, power consumption is reduced by 50%, range accuracy is increased by more than 10 times, and the overall solution cost is lower. It can be used for short-range and ultra-short-range applications such as blind spot detection, lane change assistance, crossroad traffic warnings and vehicle start and stop controls. It is worth mentioning that TI also introduced the AWR1642 short-range radar reference design for direct use!
Finally, contribute for free! ——Millimeter wave online video training materials, welcome everyone to receive!Need to remind everyone: In addition to radar and single-chip solutions, in order to speed up product development, TI also provides evaluation modules, reference schematics, PCB design files and BOM for all devices, and SDK software development kit. By leveraging TI's Software and System Development Kit (SDK), developers can evaluate and implement a millimeter-wave radar project in less than 30 minutes. This recommended millimeter wave training series allows you to quickly understand the design while learning the basics of FMCW technology and millimeter wave sensors. I hope to help you in your work!
