Vishay Introduces New High Performance Automotive Grade PIN Photodiode

MALVERN, PA — September 11, 2014 — Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE: VSH) today announced the launch of two new automotive grade high speed silicon PIN photodiodes, the VEMD6010X01 and VEMD6110X01, which are diodes. The devices released today are AEC-Q101 certified for light detection in applications such as light curtains, light barriers, instrumentation systems, switches, and rain and daylight sensors. VEMD6010X01 is used to detect visible and near-infrared radiation, using a transparent resin with a sensitivity range of 450nm to 1100nm. VEMD6110X01 is used for infrared applications from 750nm to 1050nm. Using black resin, there is a filter that blocks sunlight from 830nm to 950nm infrared emitters.

The VEMD6010X01 and VEMD6110X01 have fast response times with a half-height angle of ±60°, an operating temperature of -40°C to +110°C, and peak sensitivity wavelengths of 900nm and 950nm, respectively. The photodiode meets the RoHS and Vishay green standards, is halogen-free, supports lead-free processing, and has a moisture sensitivity rating of 4, meeting J-STD-020's 72-hour bench life requirements.
