A few days ago, Texas Instruments (TI) announced the launch of the industry's most feature-rich chipset, further expanding its FPD-Link III automotive-grade serializer deserializer product camp. The DS90UH927Q-Q1 serializer and DS90UH928Q-Q1 deserializer can bring uncompressed, high-definition digital audio and video to the car's central information display and LCD touch screen panel in the rear seat. DS90UH928Q-Q1 is the industry's only deserializer that connects LVDS to achieve automotive cable equalization, 24-bit color jitter and white balance. These features help LCD panels achieve the highest performance, lowest cost, and lowest electromagnetic interference (EMI) advantages compared to competing solutions.

The chipset supports high-bandwidth digital content protection (HDCP) and supports direct connection to LVDS input sources and displays, including the OpenLDI (LVDS Digital Interface) standard. This not only reduces the signal line by 68%, but also supports differential signals to minimize EMI. Compared with similar competitive solutions, the TI FPD-Link series can provide system architects with more video sources and displays that can be directly connected to the automotive video network.

The rich color 720p experience comparable to tablets: 5 MHz to 85 MHz pixel clock and 24-bit pixel depth combined with on-chip white balance, high frame rate control jitter, and 7.1 audio support for high-quality audio and video. This provides a consistent visual experience for all models from entry-level cars to high-end SUVs. In addition, the jitter and white balance characteristics at high-definition resolution also support the use of lower-quality LCD panels, which can save costs;

Adaptive cable equalizer compensates for cable loss: DS90UB928Q-Q1 can automatically adapt to cable length and cable condition or aging. This unique feature can not only cope with the common cable wear of pull-down or pop-up displays, but also help manufacturers reduce the inventory of LCD panel versions;

A simple way to obtain content-protected video: use the HDCP interface protocol to simultaneously transmit digital audio, video, and bidirectional I2C control signals over a single twisted pair. Implementing HDCP and encryption / decryption keys in the serializer deserializer's on-chip memory can simplify system design. This eliminates the cost of microcontrollers and FPGAs required by the Ethernet interface packet compression video system.

The DS90UH927Q-Q1 and DS90UH928Q-Q1 can be used in combination, and can also be matched with other products of the TI FPD-Link III series to fully meet the needs of various models. For example, the DS90UH928Q-Q1 deserializer can be combined with the DS90UH925Q-Q1 serializer, DRA74x "Jacinto 6" automotive processor and DRV2667 piezoelectric haptic driver to meet the needs of high-definition touch screens, while the DS90UH927Q-Q1 serializer and DS90UH928Q-Q1 deserializer It can be combined with DRV2667 and other leading graphics processors to form a complete infotainment subsystem. In addition, non-HDCP versions of these serializer deserializers are also available as DS90UB927Q-Q1 and DS90UB928Q-Q1.

The DS90UH927Q-Q1 serializer and DS90UH928Q-Q1 deserializer are now available. The DS90UH927Q-Q1 is available in a 40-pin, 6 mm x 6 mm QFN package, while the DS90UH928Q-Q1 is available in a 48-pin, 7 mm x 7 mm QFN package.
